Recently, General Secretary Xi Jinping came to the Three Gorges Dam to get a detailed understanding of the construction, power generation, water conservancy, navigation, and ecological protection of the Three Gorges Project, and went to the navigation lock, ship lift and power plant on the left bank for field research.

As an expert in industrial process, professional specialties, and high-end co-construction environmental systems, Shenling began to supply air-conditioning equipment, ventilation and fire-fighting equipment and other small mechanical and electrical equipment for the spillway dam section of the second phase of the Yangtze Three Gorges Project as early as 2001. From 2002, Shenling successively won the bids for the power plant, dam and permanent ship lock of the power station on the left bank of the Yangtze Three Gorges Project, as well as the air-conditioning terminal equipment and air-conditioning host equipment of the Daxiangxi Oil Depot HVAC system, and the power plant, dam and HVAC system equipment of the power station on the right bank of the Yangtze Three Gorges Project. Based on the recognition of our products, in the Air Conditioning Project of Underground Power Plant of Yangtze Three Gorges Project in 2006, the Equipment Department of China Three Gorges Corporation purchased Shenling’s HVAC system equipment from a single source!

Shortly after, Shenling carried out the targeted energy-saving transformation for the products of the Three Gorges Project. This “second-generation product” can save 128,000 tons of standard coal and reduce 317,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year! In 2013, the new high-efficiency and energy-saving hydroelectric air-conditioning product passed the appraisal of relevant experts in the domestic refrigeration and air-conditioning industry and experts from the Chinese Association of Refrigeration. The appraisal committee believed that the product creatively used the advantaged “deep constant temperature reservoir water” of the hydropower station as the cold source or heat source to achieve energy-saving operation of the air-conditioning system, which had remarkable energy-saving effect, conformed to the national policies on energy conservation and emission reduction, and had obvious economic and social benefits and broad market prospect.

Adhering to the original intention of “all-round service for the construction of the Three Gorges Project”, Shenling was highly recognized by the Three Gorges Corporation by virtue of the excellent product quality and first-class after-sales service.In 2013 (10 years after the operation of the unit), the Three Gorges Hydropower Plant awarded Shenling a plaque of “Excellent Quality and First-class Service”.

In addition, Shenling’s project “Key Technologies for Thermal and Humid Environment Control in Underground Chambers of Large Hydropower Projects, and R&D and Application of Series Products” won the second prize of the National Invention Award by the State Council in 2012, setting up a technical benchmark in the industry! As General Secretary Xi Jinping said: “We must hold the great strength in our hands and force the improvement of capacity for independent innovation by self-dependence. Imagine that if the construction of the Three Gorges Project was based on introduction and the grant of others, how could we have the leading ability today.”

After years of experience in the power industry, Shenling has succeeded in supporting almost all the ultra-large and large hydropower projects in China, including the Three Gorges, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba and Gezhouba projects, accounting for about 80% of the market share of the total installed hydropower capacity in China and leading the market in the hydropower industry.
